Powers

    • Atlantean Biological Adaptation: The Atlanteans are an offshoot of humanity that is biologically adapted to the deep ocean environment. For most Atlanteans, this means that can breathe underwater, endure the pressures of the deep (among other adaptations), and can only spend a very limited time out of water. He also possesses superhuman levels of strength, speed, endurance and durability, all by-products of his body being adapted to survive unprotected in the tremendous pressures of the ocean depths. Although other Atlanteans possess similar adaptations, Aquaman is super-Atlantean as well as super-human, and as such he has greater physical capabilities than does a typical Atlantean.
    • Water Breathing/Freedom: Aquaman, as an Atlantean, can breathe both water and air, but must return to the aquatic environment at various intervals; this length can be prolonged by the humidity in the atmosphere.
      • Aquaman doesn't suffer penalties in underwater battles and receives +1CS to Fighting, Endurance and Strength. 
    • Hyper Swimming: he is capable of swimming at speeds of up to Shift-X speed or 150 knots (175 mph).
      • While in the water he is able to create giant whirlpools using his speed to slam attack an entire area at Monstrous rank.
    • Enhanced Senses: Sight, Olfactory and Hearing: Aquaman’s senses are adapted to 6,000 fathoms (or 36,000 feet below the surface of the water) depth and on the surface are considered to be superhuman in ability. These powers function at Excellent rank and have a range of 20 areas.
      • Night vision: As a side effect of being adapted for such depths Aquaman has no problem seeing in the dark on land, even in the absence of light or in near dark conditions he functions without any problem. This power functions at Remarkable rank.
    • Body Resistance: Aquaman's enhanced physiology enables him to withstand impacts that would kill an ordinary human, and critically injure an average Atlantean. He has been seen in ocean depths as deep as 20,000 feet (3.79 miles) below the surface of the water. That amount of pressure is 800 atmospheres, which is enough to turn an ordinary human into a smear of blood and bone dust. It seems that Aquaman has been able to travel as deep as 36,000 feet (6.82 miles) considering that he claims that his eyes have been adapted to see at that depth. He is not completely durable against large fire arms, and is able to take a direct hit by small arms fire without incapacitation. As a result of these adaptions Aquaman is considered to have the following protective abilities on land.
      • Remarkable (30) protection vs. Physical attacks.
      • Excellent (20) protection vs. most energy based attacks.

    • Marine Telepathy: Aquaman has the ability to communicate directly with sea life and has done so throughout most of his life. He possesses a great range of control that can actually force sea creatures to obey his whims, he requests their assistance and they comply.       • Telepathy: As a result of his ability to communicate with marine life, he is also an accomplished telepath. This ability functions at Amazing rank & range, over time he developed the following power stunts.

Limitations

• Dehydration: Aquaman needs to immerse himself in water for at least an hour every 24 hrs to keep his powers and stats at peak levels. For every two hours past that point, reduce all his physical stats and powers -1CS rank. This is also reflected in his health score. One hour's immersion in water will immediately restore all lost ranks and health.

Many on the surface world remember a rather bland young merman that was a founding member of the JLA, yet below the waters that cover two thirds of the surface of his planet he is rightfully seen as the monarch of those waters. Experience has molded Orin from the inexperienced loner to the majestic warrior king that his subjects both fish and mammal hold in awe.

Aquaman is often seen as a loner but he takes his time forming friends, a group that includes a long standing friendship with Wonder Woman. Aquaman has fought gods for his right to be protector of the seas, he has paid with blood for enemies made and has lost his way in the difficult choices that rulers must make. Yet it is impossible to keep him down.

  • Justice League Communicator: Arthur has a Justice League communicator capable of a 10,0000 mile range, the signal is scrambled so as to encrypt it. The communicator is waterproof and is made of Amazing ranked materials.
  • Scale Armor: Rm protection vs. Physical and Energy, Arthur's armor is constructed to absorb and maintain enough water to keep him hydrated for a day at a time.
  • Shell of Sounds: Given to Arthur by his mother Atlanna. A relic that can contain recorded memories and dialog from the user, in order to convey their memories to future generations.
  • Trident of Neptune: Shift-Y material, Monstrous Edge or Blunt damage; Forged from enchanted gold by Atlan, first king of Atlantis, the Trident of Neptune serves as a symbolism of the royal line. Arthur wields the Trident as both his right to rule and as a lethal weapon which can pierce mystical defences and draw blood from New Gods like Darkseid. He eventually lost this trident when the villainous Siren, posing as Mera, usurped his leadership and kingdom, but he has since regained it. Arthur eventually learned his trident is empowered by magical energies. The Trident of Neptune strengthened him by awakening his own dormant mystical capacity, enabling to combat magic in many forms.

He eventually sacrificed it in order to destroy the encroachment of dimensions, but has been lent a replacement by the gods since then. The trident gives the user the following abilities:

Personal History

Tom Curry, a lonely lighthouse keeper, rescued a woman from a hurricane. While nursing her back to health, Curry feel in love with the woman whose name was Atlanna. The two of them married and named their son Arthur.

As a child, Arthur discovered he had the ability to breath underwater and the telepathic power to command all creatures of the sea. When Arthur was six, his mother revealed on her deathbed that she was an outcast from the then-hidden sunken city of Atlantis. With his father's help, young Arthur began training to use his unique abilities. Several years later, Arthur's father passed away and Arthur became an orphan of the deep.

At one point, Atlantis called upon Aquaman to help them defeat Darkseid's invasion and then named him ambassador to the surface world. Not long after the then king of Atlantis passed and it was Arthur who was named as King and took his rightful place amongst the Atlanteans.
