S.W.O.R.D.

S.W.O.R.D. (an acronym for Sentient World Observation and Response Department) is a counter terrorism and intelligence agency which deals with extraterrestrial threats to world security. S.W.O.R.D. is a subdivision of the better known S.H.I.E.L.D. but appears to be largely autonomous of its parent organization. Since the departure of Nick Fury as director of S.H.I.E.L.D., relations between the two organizations have become strained.

The head of S.W.O.R.D is Special Agent Abigail Brand. Its primary command-and-control HQ is aboard the orbital space station known as the Peak VII.

S.W.O.R.D. is known to have at least one undercover operative in the X-Mansion: Shadowcat's pet dragon, Lockheed.

Pandora's Box is the S.W.O.R.D.'s orbital research station. Despite the fact that most of their scientific researchs of aliens were conducted on the Peak VII, the most hazardous of them were at the Pandora's Box space station.

Their recent research focused on the developing a method to remove a Brood larva from its host body without killing the host. They succeeded, but soon after the Brood Queen escaped, freed her warriors and they seized the station.
