DC Multiverse Game Tale

Been participating in a DC Campaign using the MSH System recently. Been very fun so I thought I would tell you a tale in the event anyone is interested.

Our characters include:

Resurrection Man (Mitchell Shelley): A former lawyer who became the unwilling test subject for experimental nano technology known only as tektites. The experiment was somewhat of a success as it rendered Shelley immortal. But at a price. He could still be killed but he would always return to life imbued with a random super power each time. (Who I was playing as.)

Red Tornado ("John Smith") A sentient android capable of generating tornado level winds.

Platinum: A member of the Metal Men. A team of robots created by the brilliant Doctor Magnus.

Plastic Man (Patrick O'Brian): A former crook who after a heist went wrong (or horribly right) found himself with the power of plasticity.

I know, a rather strange set of heroes we have here. We began our session each participating in our own showcase moments before vanishing and finding themselves confronted by the likes of the Phantom Stranger and the Spectre. Our heroes were familiar enough with these celestial beings that they instinctively knew that when these two joined forces it could only mean trouble. The Stranger and the Spectre were very vague with the reasons behind their summons only alluding to some great threat that threatened not only this Earth but the whole of reality as they knew it. Only our heroes had any chance of stopping it. (A fact which greatly pleased the likes of Plastic Man. Red Tornado and Resurrection Man were rather indifferent to the whole idea.)

Unable to help any further due to the command of some much higher power, they were instead left in the hands of a much more capable group who would assist them in their endeavours as they traversed the wider Multiverse to find and stop this threat rewriting existence. This group? The League of Batmen.

Members included:

Batman (Adam West)
Batman (Brave and the Bold)
Batman Beyond (Goes without saying)
Super-Batman
Brainiac Batman (He and Super Batman had an uneasy relationship)

They would guide and help the heroes where they can using Brainiac's technology. Our heroes why such a group existed comprised of only one hero and the Batmen admitted that even they weren't sure but would guide and assist the heroes where they could. Our heroes where soon joined by another member. A dapper fellow with a cape wearing a red helmet appropriately known as Red Hood. Our heroes were suspicious but Brave and the Bold Batman vouched for him.

Our first World?

The world of Batman: Forever where some unknown entity had breached the dimensional barrier . We were shocked too. We arrived the day after Two-Face robbed and successfully escaped from the Bank of Gotham. After encountering and dispatching some thugs in a nearby warehouse, we came to the logical conclusion that we should contact the Batman of this universe to see if he can help. Thanks to some luck rolls and moments of ingenuity we managed to book an appointment with KilmerWayne during his annual inspection of Wayne Enterprises under the pretense we were financial investors. Red Hood elected to stay behind and have the warehouse act as our hideout whilst on this Earth after refusing to take his helmet off.

Sadly thanks to Chase Meridian misuing the Bat Signal, KilmerWayne left before we could get a chance to speak to him. However, we did come into contact with a certain Edward Nygma who sat dejected at his work station utterly miserable. Platinum (borrowing some of RD's tech to appear human) and being the ever kind soul she is struck up a conversation with the suddenly nervous Nygma and expressed interest in his work. His superior Strickland proceeded to berate Nygma under the belief we were still investors which Platinum quickly countered with a cutting remark, humilating him in the process and greatly pleasing the now suddenly agreeable Nygma.
Realising we might have made a potential ally on this Earth, Resurrection Man and Plastic Man invited him out for a drink which he reluctantly accepted. Whilst in our local bar as RT made light conversation with RM who nearly got in a fight with some drunken louts and a probably smitten Nygma kept talking to Platinum about brainwaves and the like PM saw in the newspaper that our exploits had been recorded.

Meanwhile, in Gotham Harbour a group of fishermen snagged something at the end of their line. A certain small starfish of unusual colour which suddenly opened its eye to look at them...

So there we go. A fun introductory session with a lot of questions still left unanswered which we can't wait to figure out. Who formed the League of Batmen? Who truly is the mysterious Red Hood? Have we unwittingly prevented Nygma from becoming the diabolical Riddler? What about Two-Face? What threatens the wider Multiverse? What is lurking in the waters beneath the harbour? Questions, questions so many questions.....

*And yes, we all agreed out of character that we probably have caused more harm than good when it came to Nygma. Talk about changing the fate of this world entirely.

We also have theories about who or what is responsible for what is responsible for our rag tag unconventional team coming together to save the Multiverse. Our money is currently on Bat-Mite.
