  • Mystic Origin*
  • Knowledge: Religion
  • Knowledge: Ritual
  • Knowledge: High Society
  • Trance
  • Multi-Lingual
  • Heir to Fortune*

Powers:
Reluctant Vampire
Countess Marya Zaleska is the daughter of Dracula and a vampire in her own right. Although Countess Zaleska is trying to rid herself of her familial curse, she still possesses the powers, attributes, and abilities of a vampire. Countess Zaleska has the following abilities and powers due to heritage:
  • Vampirism*: Although Countess Zaleska is able to resist many of the longings and cravings of her vampiric nature, she is a vampire first and foremost of the Count Dracula (1933) tradition. Zaleska does not require blood to sustain herself, but is addicted to it – an addiction that she is trying very hard to lose. Zaleska regains lost health through blood drinking, can enslave those who she has drained, pass vampirism onto others, and is able to restore lost endurance and status effects when drinking blood. In most ways, Zaleska is considered to have Bio-vampirism*, but instead of the difficulties and limitations of the traditional sense, Zaleska simply is left making Psyche FEATS when in the presence of blood or in moments of inner crisis or lost morale. Zaleska is considered ‘unageing’ and as a vampire is considered immune to most diseases/aging/toxins. Zaleska can still be stunned and slammed, but recovers with extraordinary speed (1 round maximum for stuns, immune to grand slams).
  • Adjusted FASERIP: Zaleska ‘s FASERIP shifts depending on when first encountered. Zaleska’ FASERIP is as it is listed on the left during the period she is actively resisting or trying to cure her condition. Zaleska’s attributes, while still extremely impressive a normal human drop when she’s not actively feeding or trying to resist her vampiric nature. Zaleska’s attributes shift to the values on the right when she’s fed, she’s abandoned her goals of removing vampirism, or when she’s goaded into her actions by her manservant Sandor. Please see ‘Limitations’ for more information.
  • Hypnotic Gaze: Countess Zaleska has a powerful hypnotic gaze and is capable of controlling both the active and subliminal commands of those around her with Rm (30) intensity. Zaleska can create situations in which individuals actually hallucinate seeing or hearing events that are no present and can also use her powers to render herself ‘invisible’ to normal eyes. Zaleska will attempt to use her powers to prevent further investigation or to render her actions oblivious – Zaleska prefers not to use her powers violently.
  • Vampiric Abilities: Unlike the traditional Hollywood powers of Vampirism, Zaleska cannot shapeshift and cannot turn into mist in a traditional means. Zaleska is believed to have fangs (Although like the Bela Lugosi version of Dracula she is never seen with them) which would do Ex (20) edged damage ignoring normal protections and halving effective armor. Zaleska also possesses longer fingernails which could do Rm (30) edged damage if wielded correctly – but this was only a mentioned effect. Zaleska also is considered to have Ex (20) heightened senses and can probably see into the heat area of the spectrum as she randomly comments being able to do so in passing.
  • Karma Interference: Linoge seems to affect the situations he’s part of – whether it is to create terrible situations and make them worse or to interfere with solid attempts to stop him. It is possible due to Linoge’s nature and his abilities Linoge prevents the use of Karma in efforts that are directly against him. As such, Karma may not be used when dealing with Linoge directly or in opposition of Linoge’s activities.

Occult Expert: Zaleska understands the occult better than most and is well-versed in ritual and religious symbology. As such, Zaleska can conduct and cast ritual spells if she knows them at current Psyche Rank intensity. Zaleska can only perform rituals according to the specific conditions and while aware of greater mystical powers, can only entreat them according to her nature and state of being.

Contacts:
Countess Zaleska has a manservant named Sandor who she believes she can count on, but in reality, has no desire to help her remove her vampirism. Zaleska may have additional contacts home like her father, but it is unknown at what level.

Limitations:
Countess Valeska has many limitations that work against her in her goals. These limitations include:
  • Reluctant Vampire: Marya Zaleska is very much hoping to cure her vampirism and has placed great value that her nature can be cured – while attempting her cure Zaleska’s FASERIP is affected given her state of mind. When Zaleska has abandoned her goal, her primal nature takes over and her RIP is reduced accordingly. Zaleska’s nature can be used against her, making attempts to sway her or create opportunities to affect her to have greater affect – any attempt gains a +1cs to affect her.
  • Dangerous Lineage: Zaleska is the recognized daughter of Dracula, and as such any who know of her relations will be adversely affected. Zaleska does little to hide this fact but does not relish in it – Zaleska does not care for her father and blames his actions for her state – indeed blaming him for all the evils of their family name. When dealing with Zaleska and if the parties are aware of her true nature Zaleska suffers a -1cs to all social FEATS due to this information.
  • Traitorous Servant: Although Zaleska utilizes Sandor explicitly to help her, Sandor has hopes of being turned into a vampire himself and will work against Zaleska’s best interests to ensure she remains a vampire. Sandor will take direct steps to remind Zaleska that she is of the undead and that she has little hope of changing that. Sandor will undermine Zaleska’s attempts adding a +1cs difficulty in cases that Zaleska might resist her nature. Sandor will also work against Zaleska in subtle ways – from reminding her of her true nature and also to work against anyone who might seek to help Zaleska.
