Powers:
Spirit of Vengeance:
Jack is the latest incarnation of the Spirit of Vengeance that haunts the back alleys and side streets of Jameson City. Occasionally, when a person dies on Halloween and is neither good enough for heaven or bad enough for hell, they are reborn with the power to achieve either redemption or damnation for themselves. The first Jack O' Lantern was a mystery man in the 1930s until his disappearance in 1957.

As a spirit of Halloween/Vengeance, Jack has discovered the following powers:
- Regeneration*: Jack has Mn (75) regeneration, allowing him to heal from mortal wounds within a minute and minor wounds nearly instantly.
- Recovery: Jack's healing allows him to recover lost endurance ranks and from damage quickly with Mn (75) intensity.
- Self-Revival: Jack can bring himself back from the dead as the spirit inside of him will not allow him to die.
- Iron Will: Jack ignores physical damage despite taking damage from it with In (40) ability.

- Mystical punch: Jack's melee attacks are considered magical damage, doing Rm (30) damage.
- Multiple Attacks: Jack can get four melee attack a round.
- Resist: Magic: Jack has Un (100) resistance to mystical effects.
- Invulnerability: Class 1000 resistance vs poison, radiation, disease, and attacks that affect the soul.
- Incarnation awareness: Jack is followed nearly constantly by the ghostly apparition of the 1930s Jack O' Lantern, who seeks to guide him towards redemption and acts generally as a streetwise compass for Jack to follow. Only Jack seems to see him, although several of the denizens of the City tend to acknowledge that the spirit is indeed present, and Jack's not crazy.

Contacts:
The Ogilby Witches, the Original Jack O' Lantern

Limitations:
Despite his power, Jack has the following limitations:

"The Rules": Jack is only partially aware of "The Rules" in which he must follow. The Rules are a series of guidelines within the City, and as such, Jack must abide by them. As Jack isn't aware of all of the Rules, he's been blindsided more than once by them. Among the rules are:
- All Saint's Day: Jack loses all his powers for a 24 hour period beginning on November 1st. As such, Jack is pretty much a normal man for the entire day. Jack can be permanently killed during that 24 hour period, which nearly happened once.
- Holy Ground: Jack cannot take hostile actions of any sort while on Holy Ground, which Jack calls aptly 'The Highlander Rule'. Sanctified Earth prevents Jack from taking action, and in some cases, prevents him from crossing the threshold.
- Warding: The six bullets that nearly ended Jack's life are powerful tools to be used against him. Powerful wards can be made from them to prevent Jack from entering locations, obscuring things from Jack's vision, or even killing him. Any of the six bullets (Four of which are unaccounted for) can also bypass Jack's resistances.

Background:
Jack and his sister Eve grew up in the shadows of Jameson City, NJ in the poorest areas of the city. Jack grew up quickly, taking to the streets and becoming a member of the Warlocks, one of the two largest gangs within the city. With his intelligence and drive, Jack quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a trusted Lieutenant to Moloch, the leader of the Warlocks. As the Warlocks gained a violent reputation, Jack continued to rise through the ranks until he was the second in command, earning a fearless and merciless reputation. It seemed that Jack would either end up a victim of gang related homicide or in prison, but fate had different plans.

One Halloween night, Jack and the Warlocks were out terrorizing the city when they came across a young woman in distress. Rather than help the gang assault the woman, something came over Jack, something about the situation affected him, and Jack stepped in to help the girl. Seeing an opportunity, another gang member vying for Jack's position took advantage, and fired six rounds into Jack's back, dumping his body in a shallow grave in the infamous Grant Hill cemetery.

Jack hovered between life and death, seeing the evil had he had been part of, but also, seeing that he wasn't as evil as to be damned for it. As he bled out, Jack felt himself being offered a choice: Death or a chance to put things right. Jack chose life, and felt his strength returning. As the clock neared midnight, Jack clawed himself out of the shallow grave, the newest person to wear the orange, green, and black of the Jack O' Lantern.

In the morning, Jack turned himself into the police, and after serving several months in jail, was released. Jack turned himself around, opening a youth center in the old neighborhood, and using his powers to bring the guilty to justice. Jack continued to operate at night throughout the city, learning what he could from the ghost of the previous Jack O' Lantern, the one who was offered the same choice back in the 1930s...

Very nice. I especially like the limitation of the bullets that killed him. A very interesting addition.

Definitely a nice character with a set of powers that capture that supernatural agent flavor without losing uniqueness as well as the classic supernatural characters that started showing up in comics complete with the vulnerabilities (especially the usefullness of the bullets that brought about his being in the position to become a supernatural agent also being able to end him). Some impressive options there for the automatic 4 attacks/turn, and unusual for such a character to be immune to attacks on the soul when they have one (unlike Mandark for example, who opposed Ghost Rider (Blaze) and Spider-man, as he had no soul to harm).

"A shared universe, like any fictional construct, hinges on suspension of disbelief. When continuity is tossed away, it tatters the construct. Undermines it."

How can you not be impressed with this character?

Totally playable. I could see this as a good movie.

Quite. Might have have been more appropriate to wait 2 months to revive post, though... more seasonal, that is. On the hand, I never noticed this one, so now I can make plans to include him in my game come Halloween time.

A high post count is indicative of little more than one having the time to post frequently.
It does not mean a person is more knowledgeable on any given topic than anyone else.
