What can't the Marvel Cinematic Universe get Doctor Doom right?

What can't the Marvel Cinematic Universe get Doctor Doom right?

In general the the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been very good overall. Sure there is a disappointment ( Daredevil ) or two, but it's usually a movie on a minor character.

Doom is not a minor character, he's a flagship villain. So what can't Fox or MCU get him right?

Never found the right actor?

Put him in a lousy script?

Strayed from who the character is?

To complicated of a character? Sophisticated, intelligent, cold and calculating?

What?

Huh? How can the MCU screw up a character they have not even made a movie about yet? I don't understand what you are talking about.

Dr. Doom has never appeared in the MCU.

The films by Sony Pictures are not a part of the MCU, but just a godawful pile of steaming celluloid they keep creating to block the copyright licensing from reverting back to Disney/Marvel.

One world of adventure is never enough.

I said, " So why can't Fox or MCU get him right?"

Fox screwed the pooch, MCU never introduced him. Better?

Lazy and/ or unintelligent writers?
Just a guess.

I think it's a combination of lazy executives desperate to keep the film rights out of Marvel's hands (Disney showed them!) and genius villains are sometimes difficult to write without them becoming campy. Doom is an incredibly complex character, developed and presented over decades. That depth is hard to convey in 90 - 120 minutes, but it's possible. Look at the old Bond villains. Most were adequately portrayed as evil geniuses with some sort of megalomaniacal axe to grind and audiences accepted them. Sadly Doom's big screen portrayals have been more Doctor Evil than Dr. No.

As with anything, it really comes down to the actor skill.
Can they grasp the Megalomania of Victor Von DooM?
Can they grasp his search for power? The hunger, the essence?

Yeah Sony FF was a joke to an extent.
