The first time I ever saw these maneuvers used in the comics was by the Hulk and the Thing back in the 1960's. But as they say - "There is nothing new under the sun."

And now imagine how many times, if real, a "Hulk" or "Thing" character, doing a Thunder Clap, would burst their own eyes and ears, since those can't really be armored?
