Has anyone ever developed a point system for generating characters in the FASERIP system?

Has anyone ever let players roll their 7 ability ( faserip ) scores randomly as per usual - then let them choose where they go? Instead of Straight down the line?

Similar to 5e D&D . Still rolling scores but maybe preventing a player getting stuck with a feeble agility and Amazing fighting or that old man kung fu example from an earlier post : the feeble strength Amazing fighting etc ?

Would any of you let players do that? -

As a house rule, nobody has a feeble FASERIP in the ability score that is playing a home grown character. You re-roll. And I do let a player match his two highest scores so he can somewhat generate a chacter he likes. After all, it's about fun.

Then I would take Unearthly body armor and feeble phasing.

That still leaves 48 points left.

Hmm.

However you want to do it ...

... but be aware, there are still more than enough published bad guys to overcome those powers ...

The most functional non-random character creation system I have found is the Character Modeling (Advanced Judge's Screen p.4). Set an upper limit for how high a rank a PC can have in anything, have a session zero to get everyone on the same page for what power level you are aiming at.
