Grappling

We have all seen the Hulk grab someone by the cape or ankle, or face, and begin slamming him into the walls and ground, or some hero heft up some thug by the collar and casually toss him into some other nearby thug. Seems like it shold be an easy enough feat, or at least not an excessively difficult one. However, the game mechanic as it stands offers only Grappling as a means to take hold of an opponent... and under the established Grappling rules, both a White AND a Green attack roll indicates a miss.

I've been thiking about this, and it seems to me that the Grabbing attack (intended to take some item away from a holder) would be better suited to this feat... allowing it to potentially succeed on a Green FEAT. Are results are equiv. to Partial Holds effect wise.

Green (Take) - atttacker has successfully taken control of the opponent (face, wrist, ankle, cape) IF his/her Strength is equal to or exceeds the targets.

Yellow (Grab): attacker has successfully taken control of the opponent regardless of comparative Strengths.

Red (Break): the attacker has taken control of the opponent with such forcefulness that it inflicts Strength -2 CS damage unless situational factors dictate otherwise). This crushing damage can be inflcited each subsequent round if held in exclusion of all other activities, eg. lifting the target and bashing him into a wall.

*the target can attempting to escape the graspers clutches on any round according to initiatve by making a succesful Fighting or Strength FEAT vs. the graspers Strength -2 CS.

What do you think?

Also, while I'm on the topic, does the Wrestling skill seem a little too.... simplisitic? Shouldn't a Green Result be a succesful lock up; in which neither the attacker nor the target have an upper hand, but they have neverthless locked up? And shouldn't a succesful Partial Hold offer an advantage in moving toward a Full Hold? And shouldn't it be easier to escape from a lock up or partial hold than from a full hold? And what about grapplings feints.... or working a ground-and-pound???

Thoughts?

Actually… Unarmed Melee Combat usually gets really Complex…… I normally use the MSH rules with only a few modifications…..

1st… Martial Arts Education (Talents) are only considered under ABCDE….. All the other lettered Martial Arts, Disciplines and Styles are consolidated to forms of ABCDE.

- A: Advantage… Use their power to your Advantage, Results: Same Game Round Counter Attacks.
- B: Boxing… Uses Multiple Strikes… Results: Drop Zero from Fighting Rank…. AM:50 = 5 Hits... Damage (Armor Piercing) is divided by number of hits...
- C: Crippling / Submission / Joint Manipulation / Wresting / Pinning…. Results: High Damage and Stuns.
- D: Death Hits; Uses ANY Melee Tactics or Weaponry…. Results: Effects are [+1CS]… ANY Weaponry
- E: Environment; Uses ANY Melee Tactics or Weaponry…. Results: Judge must reveal to the player ANY usable Stuff in the Environment …… Such as ‘Slick Oil Puddle near the Enemy’…. Or loose Rug under his feet….. Stuff like that….

For Martial Arts ‘C’

- Blue: Total Failure

- White: Attacker makes contact, but Defender easily evades, dodges, avoids, or blocks with NO FEAT.

- Green: Attacker makes ‘HOLDING’ contact…. Defender must FEAT roll to evade, dodge, avoid, block, wriggle free…. Damage will be equal to ‘Strength’..

- Yellow: Attacker makes ‘LOCKING’ contact…. Defender must FEAT roll to evade, dodge, avoid, block, wriggle free…. Damage will be equal to ‘Strength’…. Attacker may gain [+1CS] to Initiative in next Round.

- RED: Attacker makes ‘LOCKING’ OR ‘STUNNING’ contact…. Defender must FEAT roll to evade, dodge, avoid, block, wriggle free…. Damage will be equal to ‘Strength’…. Attacker may gain [+1CS] to Initiative in next Round.

Attacker also gains 1 of 2 options….

LOCK = More Damage Delivered by wrenching tighter.... [+1CS]
OR
STUN = NO more Damage to HP…. But Defender may get Crippled, Suffocated, or ‘TAP-OUT’…..
