Power stunts as "minor" new powers with the same strong flavor as an existing power makes sense - a web parachute is still made of web after all. Where it stops making sense is where a power stunt really is a different power entirely. Would web "bullets" fire as if from a low rate of fire machine gun still be a permissible power stunt? They no longer act like typical spider-man webbing. I'd still

Tower of the Elephant which is one of the original REH Conan stories is public domain.
"The Tower of the Elephant ... As this work's copyright was not renewed, it entered the public domain on 1 January 1962. The longest-living author of this work died in 1936, so this work is in the public domain in countries and areas where the copyright term is the author's life plus 86 years or less."

I actually think is an example of the 'forking' from the original more Dave Arneson style Jeff Grubb original FASERIP from his college days and the Steve Winter "this needs to be enumerated and there has to be some sort of XP or goal' approach. Both good, both useful. Except when the two forked paths are woven together. There are quite a few examples in the rules as I found when I cloned them. Re

Do you mean crushing as in a machine crushing someone or a continually applied crushing effect?
Grappling resolves to Crushing.
Crushing from a machine is an effect so it would be a readied attack or an effect to avoid with Agility or resist with Strength, surely.

Perfectly reasonable. In fact, looking at the semiotics of FASERIP, there is a case for saying power stunts are pointless as long as you are really cashed up with karma - ie, you get set a virtually impossible modified feat, but blitz it with karma - like his early 1960s web parachute - and since it is not something he is bothered with doing all the time ever again, that's it. Did he overspend on

I included it in FASERIPopedia but really the Power Stunts rule is another wargame-y holdover from the bad old days at TSR. Power stunts happen way quicker than that in old comic books. It's almost the exact opposite of the rule too, in that Spider-Man first made a web parachute way back in the early 1960s, and it worked perfectly as one would expect from a comic story, then it vanished from use.

If it were cheaper and less crunchy ( rules mechanics that slow down pacing ) i would get it .
I have so many retro clones and other rpg;s too little time !
The idea of the Marvel Super Heroes RPG being redone but the MU part of it scrubbed out is interesting.
perhaps using 100's of public domain super characters in the game world would give it a tone and style with rich yet stran

Not in the original game. The original as you probably know is more about weight rather than mass or gravity.
If we were going to model it then I would give gravity an intensity in line with any other effect acting on a character or object. That way it also cuts down on the math and numbers and keeps it in the same style as the rest of the game.
Multiples of Earth gravity and their effects would

They don't explain it but I think the logic is that the fund is "spent" Karma. You can't take it back out, it isn't a banking situation, it's gone already. What the player is doing is accountancy to track how much is spent, not making a deposit in a bank and maybe you can withdraw it.
So using that logic, Karma is spent, therefore if total Karma loss occurs, unaffected since gone already.
If th

I wrote a FASERIP fantasy RPG based on 4C a few years ago. It is easy enough to do. I commit to the "no killing" rule so it is more like the D&D cartoon than conan the barbarian though. Although if you kill "monsters" and not humans, especially say undead or automata, the game could work with no modificaiton to karma rules.
For Magic, back then I did it very predictably with the "powers as s

You really should join the MSH RPG UCP (the unofficial canon project) Creator Group on facebook, you have enough stuff for a Marvel-Phile issue - or better yet a stand alone book.
Fresh and very cool stuff!

It's up on the downloads page of FASERIP.org as we discussed anyway. Most popular download so far, followed by the male realistic superhero character sheet.

I guess we should start with- who the heck is this villain who is so angry with Doc Ock?
Is there already such a person in the comics, or is this a new villain?
The more time spent on exploring the why of the vendetta, the more logical and natural in flow the trap and forced team-up will be.
Or maybe it's Doc Ock who thinks of using Spider-Man because of some unique Spider-attribute like his da

Did anyone ever do Darkhawk for any of these? There was a crop of heroes like him and Sleepwalker who bobbed up then sank without trace.

Would Spider-Man ever trust Doctor Octopus?
If you take into account the truly terrible Superior Spider-Man stuff I just don't know any more. The characters have been so badly written for so long they're like parodies so I guess sure why not.
A more general adventure where superhero and arch-nemesis are forced to work together by some entity obsessed with cosmic balance maybe?

It amused me to watch it and see Our Hero torch his Karma by standing up his girlfriend etc. then get pummeled and clobbered presumably because he didn't have enough Karma to meet the rolls

Definitely rolling a separate Rank for each attribute of a Power would open up thousands more possibilities. For example instead of attempting to use limitations and weaknesses, rolling the Rank of a Power and a separate Rank for its range means you can end up with a long range weak power (arrows) and a touch range cosmic power (death touch) more easily. Particularly for the upper range of powers

My disinterest is Remarkable since I am FASERIP ride or die but I took a proper look.
It sucks.
And worse, it is a cynical attempt for the comic book side to try and get into the roleplaying game side without needing an established partner. Silly.
As for the actual rules, speaking as someone who published a 3d6 based game a couple years ago and wrote one of the first d20 books with super-powe

If there was a power rank between Amazing and Monstrous, I would put Doom and Richards in that spot.
As for Egghead, is excellent high enough?
Surely EGGcellent is the perfect Rank for Egghead!

I would never make retcon Karma a general thing. Killing someone should be a big deal for a superHERO, a defining event, so at the end of that B plot / quest / storyline I can live with a retcon Karma as a one-off thing. Effectively it's a much bigger than normal Karma award I guess which is another way one could describe it in more general terms:
"As well all know, retroactive continuity occurs
