My son (13) thinks this is the best Marvel stuff so far. He and his mom (my wife) loved the music, and he's got it on regular rotation in his YouTube queue.
Payback, I guess, for getting him hooked on the GotG soundtracks.
(I enjoyed Moon Knight, too.)

It was a slow burn, but I thought it was well done. But it felt more targeted at a teen audience than ancient-old-me. I think if I'd come across this in my teens, I'd've eaten it right up.
I'll be watching season 2 after I work my way through the NetFlix shows.

In spite of my late start and frequent double-posting, I successfully completed the challenge! Postmortem takeaways:
PRO: I completed the challenge, I revisited and expanded a bunch of old ideas, and I need to get a real blog.
CONS: I really don't have that many Old School TSR games so variety was lacking, I need to start earlier and post consistently, and LiveJournal sucks for this type of blogg

Dragon Magazine #197 had an excellent article titled "Heroes of the Streets Arise" addressing the sudden influx of normal human costumed heroes in the early 90s. It was a reversion in may ways to the origins of the "mystery men" of the 40s and the Golden Age of comics. The variant rules are meant for "street-level" heroes and super-spies like SHIELD agents, not for

Cho-Tallon is a refugee from the Lemurian City of Toads. His clan and gene-line have long been persecuted for blending magic with technology. But the lastest purge was too much for; the family fled into Subterranea. Cho stumbled through to the surface world in Latveria. Baron von Doom decided the refugee was polite enough to live and useful enough employ.

Interesting! I, too, have a shape shifting telepath lying around. It's more of a stub right now, but it goes in a completely different direction.

This one is more of a stub, because something else has got my attention today.
Head-canon for this character is a small bookstore in Daredevil's Hell's Kitchen. He's reached an..."understanding" with Wilson Fisk. The character acknowledges the Kingpin's power, but has negotiated a bit of autonomy, strictly in regards to his business. Fisk has no desire to share his p

Create one character a day through the month of January. I don't have the time to pull together a full PC for different games, but I'm going to hit up my archives for PCs, stubs of PCs, or figments of PCs.
The days I skip will be because I'm pursuing other Old School TSR games.
Feedback always appreciated!

I'll second Spidey vs Doc Ock on the El in Spider-Man 2. Just beautiful.
Avengers has to many beautifully choreographed moments.
But I think my favorite is Cap vs Thanos from Endgame.

I'd forgotten about the Hellcat/Moondragon/Sundragon experience. I...think OHOTMUDE listed Moondragon as a latent mutant, but those are packed away. But training to bring out latent mutant abilities counts!
My experience with Topaz is limited, but I remember her from one of the handbooks. I remember mystic heritage and empathic abilities. I think those could be learned as well.

Can anyone point me to canon examples of heroes or villains learning mental powers, rather that casting spells, being mutants (etc.), or having advanced tech?
The textbook, and possible ur-example, is Dr. Doom learning mind transferal from the Ovoids.

I'll be brutally honest: my wife hates this movie. And the boys adore it.

Funny you should mention that...I was just noodling around with power templates myself. I hadn't gotten beyond the following list:
Protector of the Universe
Sorcerer Supreme
Herald of Galactus
Power Cosmic
Phoneix Force
Uni-power
Enigma Force

I'd still call that more suited to powers than talents. While there are always exceptions, I would look at filling that gap in the mystical talents with something that just adds a column shift bonus. For example, in my game, I introduced a talent called Tough which adds a +1CS bonus to Endurance for Stun and Slam checks, as well as to Strength for Block checks. Fair enough. Ch

First, my apologies for letting this sit so long. Life Intruded.
Second, Thrudjelmer, thanks for the eloquent and in depth analysis. You make some good points. You're right, I am overthinking this. The talent is too complex.
But I think there's a hole in the Mystical Talents group. We've got mind control, a healing factor, and unbreakable will. A resistant body would complete the set. I
