Wow! Well we're certainly all glad you've decided to join our site and glad to have your input on things!

Hey guys! Sorry for my long absence, I've been working really hard lately on my career as a television reporter/cameraman. Thrudjelmer recently reached out to me and reminded me that this amazing community is still here and so here I am! I hope to get into some heated discussions with all these new movies on their way!

Long time lurker, new user. I started reading comics at age 5 or 6 with the old Archie TMNT comics. Predominantly an X-Men fan, having started reading Marvel stuff in the early 90's. First started RPG gaming when my dad gave me the MSH advanced set and Concrete Jungle around '98. Just started a game with my Girlfriend and two friends a few weeks ago.

I spend the majority of my games as the Judge. I welcome a fair amount of insanity into my games, because that tends to make the games enjoyable and memorable. I tend to come up with a few options for what could happen next before each session and pick which one I'd like to use on the fly.

Hi Roleplayers.
I'm Ryan, a huge marvel fan, brand new to this entire Classic Marvel Forever. I love roleplay, have done some GURPs superhero stuff, but I love the idea of doing CMF. Unfortunately I don't have a whole lot of experience, right now the feat and color tables look like a foreign language to me. Hoping to pick up opportunities to play text and chat based games since I don't think I know anyone nearby for a face to face game.
Favorite Hero: Thor
Favorite Villain: Doctor Doom
Favorite Comic: Secret War (1984)

Greetings, Giledhel. Nice to have you aboard.

Jump right in, and feel free to ask questions. We'll be happy to help you sort out the foreign language that is the Universal Table. Honestly, once you get it, it's very easy. It's almost spoiled me for other RPGs.

I guess my first question is where to start. Ill try to do some reading on the rules, but sometimes the best way to do something is create a character, but for that you need a game? Or is it easier to play an adventure with an established hero?

You don't need a game to create some "sample characters," and creating characters is a good start. It's why character creation is at the beginning of most RPGs' Players' Handbook. I'd recommend a quick skim through of the Player's book, experiment with some character builds, and then compare them to stats of established heroes you're familiar with.

Ok thanks I'll do that, is it better to randomize character creation with rolling, or is it better to choose based on a set. What do most Game Masters prefer?

I'd say at this stage, it doesn't matter since you're just familiarizing yourself with the rules. Try making a few random and a few created via character modeling (described in the Player's Book in creation section).

I think to begin with just try a few things as random generators (there are even random generators you can download, but using htose woint teach you the system very well!)

once you have a made two or three randoms, look into the point buy and semi random systems

house rules forum has a few of them

Thanks for the help guys, starting to grasp the concepts and rules, haven't done any rolls yet, I think i may have to play a round or two to actually get the rules. Working on some character generations both random and pregnerated. Any place I can post them for feedback from the group? New to the forums and I see places where they might go but I am not sure

spiderfan88 here!

I run Marvel superheroes games for my two youngest both of who are into the movies, and my oldest is sorta into it but a bit stand offish due to her age.

I love spider-man up until OMD then I gotta say I bailed. Haven't been back but what I pick up around the place I could cry.

I found the forum from a link on a blog, when I have time I will look around. You got some stuff from MSH RPG I never even heard of and I am pretty excited about that!

Cheers,

Hello all.
George here, aka Fiasco. Been lurking for a while, but just got back into the game after an extended absence. I see a few familiar names and a lot of those I don't recognize. Good to see new blood following this game. Back in the day, I had a small stat site and ran a couple of online games. Started playing Marvel in the summer of 84, just a few months after it came out. Ran a campaign until the early 2000s. Now we are getting the band back together for another run. Should be fun.
